The Indian market starts on the first day of the week’s session at a record high note, as Sensex breaches 56,300 and Nifty opened almost 16800 levels for the first in history today.

The BSE Sensex jumped over 200 points or 0.36 per cent to 56,329.3 while Nifty50 surged over 70.6 points or 0.42 per cent to 16,775.8 at the open on Monday.

In the broader markets, the mid-cap index too soared by 124 points or 0.45 per cent to 27892.2 at open on Monday. While aiding the Nifty Index most, Nifty Bank opened over 153 points or 0.43 per cent higher to 35781.1 levels, led by IndusInd Bank and HDFC Bank.       

Of 50 scrips on Nifty50, 49 advanced, 1 declined minutes after the market open today. Tata Group stocks such as Tata Motors, Titan and Tata Steel surged most between 1.5-2.5 per cent in the early morning trade followed by Hindalco and Coal India.  

JSW Steel, Tata Consumers, M&M, Asian Paints, Divis Lab are the other buzzing stocks in the strong market today. On the contrary, Power Grid becomes the only loser in the market open on Monday by 0.09 per cent minutes after the market open. 

All sectors opened in the green on Friday, with Nifty Metal gaining most by 1.74 per cent, followed by Auto along with banking and financial services stocks. 

On the global front, the US markets end at a record high on Friday as Federal Reserve sounds 'dovish' on rates and expects tapering of bond-buying by year-end in a staggered manner.

While Asian markets on Monday opened mixed with most indices giving up morning gains to trade flat. The Japanese 'Nikkei' was trading in the green today.

Another important trigger to domestic markets, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) on Friday sold shares worth Rs 778.75 crore in cash and bought Rs 1646.19 crore in index futures.
