Ace investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala has been on a buying spree a head of the Indian festive season. Colloquially referred to as a Big Bull, Jhunjhunwala has been on shopping round as far as the stock market is concerned. Zee Business’ Devanshi Asher brings this detailed report.

Asher said that there are three new companies where the billionaire investor has made his entry. The three stocks are Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Indiabulls Housing Finance Limited and Canara Bank Limited.

Stake bought by Jhunjhunwala in SAIL, Indiabulls Housing and Canara Bank are 1.39 per cent, 2.2 per cent and 1.59 per cent respectively.

Canara Bank stake purchase was via the resent QIP (Qualified Institutional Placement) where he was allotted the shares of the bank, she said.

Among the companies in which he has increased his stake is The Federal Bank. Jhunjhunwala increased his stake from 2.4 per cent in the last quarter to 2.8 per cent now in this quarter. He has also increased his stake in Edelweiss Financial Services Limited. The stake has been increased from 1.2 per cent to 1.6 per cent now, Asher said.   

In Fortis Healthcare, the billionaire investor has increased his stake from 4.31 per cent in the previous quarter to 5.47 per cent in this quarter.

It appears that he is putting his top bets on metals and financial stocks, Asher further said.

The SAIL shares today ended at ended at Rs 116 on the NSE, down by 2.8 per cent from the Wednesday closing price.

Indiabulls Housing shares today ended at ended at Rs 219.10 on the NSE, down by 1.9 per cent from the Wednesday closing price.

Canara Bank shares today ended at ended at Rs 152.70 on the NSE, up by 1.09 per cent from the Wednesday closing price.

Fortis Healthcare shares today ended at ended at Rs 277 on the NSE, down by 1.35 per cent from the Wednesday closing price.

The Federal Bank shares today ended at ended at Rs 78.30 on the NSE, down by 2.67 per cent from the Wednesday closing price.
