The Indian stock markets opened in the green on Monday after closing negative for three straight days last week. Benchmark indices NSE Nifty50 and BSE Sensex opened at 17,783.15 and 59,577.48 respectively.

Both stock market indices Nifty and Sensex were seen attempting 18,000 and 60,000 levels in the morning trade.  At 10 am, Nifty has accumulated 135 points or 0.76% to trae at 17,806.40, while Sensex was sitting at 59,664.78, up 357.85 or 0.60%

Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel HCL Tech, IndusInd Bank, Hindalco and tech Mahindra gained between 2 to 3 per cent on Nifty 50 index. Those declined on the index were UPL, Bajaj Fin Serv, Nestle India, Mahindra and Mahindra and Tata Motors. The shares slid between 1 per cent to 4 per cent.    

Meanwhile, Nifty Bank started Monday with over 300 points gain at 39,432.15.  Nifty Midcap index rose 66 points to open at 8,579.20, while Nifty Next 50 gained nearly 300 points to start first day of the week at 42,401.60.

In the pre-open session, Sensex opened in the green near 60,000 mark as 26 shares advanced on the 30-share pack.

The Asian market started the fresh day of the week mixed as Nikkei 225 gained over 2 per cent to 29,508, up over 600 points, while Hang Sang Index on the Hong Exchange traded in the red, losing nearly 350 points at 25,032. Similarly, Shanghai Composite was also trading negative, down 9 points to 3540.

Earlier, the US stock market indices closed in the green on Friday. Dow Jones gained 89 points to 35,819, Nasdaq Composite was up 50 points to 15, 498 and S&P gained marginally by 9 points to 4,605.
