Talking about the outlook for 2021, Helios India’s chief investment officer said, “Last year saw some fall, however, the company will continue with its three themes—Private banks, demographics and export-oriented companies. Demographics comprise under-penetrated consumer names and NBFCs, while export-oriented companies will have sectors such as IT, Pharma and chemical. We will continue with these themes .”

Explaining the rationale behind picking private sector banks that compete with government banks, he said by default government companies are a bit slow and it gives advantage to private sector banks. “This sector has opened in 90s, however, there is no saturation in it. Public sector still holds two third banking balance sheet ad only one-third is with the private sector. So, there is huge opportunity of growth in the public sector banks because of their efficiency and vision.”

Talking about consumer-focus companies, he said, “The company focuses on under-penetrated urban centric consumer stories. So, we focus on consumer durables and the companies that finance them.”
