For Traders: Derivatives Data Analysis all in a Snapshot
Yesterday the Nifty recovery was led by IT and Pharma stocks which led the market to a new intraday high .Stocks like ONGC, INDUSINDBK, GAIL, DRREDDY and INFY were top gainers gaining around 3-7% while stocks like HDFC, ICICIBANK, AXISBANK, SBI LIFE and TITAN were top losers that fell around 2-4%. With some profit booking seen at the higher level which was acting as a resistance, the Nifty closed at 12941 with gain of around 0.55%.
Nifty November futures closed at a premium of 7.90 points versus a premium of 12.25. The market added Rs 30321 cr in open interest, taking the total open interest in the F&O segment to Rs 485737 cr. The Nifty call option added 39.32 lakh shares in open interest and the put option added 61.36 shares in open interest.
Market commentary:
Yesterday benchmark indices opened with gain of around 60-70 points in line with mixed cues from global markets. Thereafter, the Nifty remained range bound and tried to recover from the day's low in the first half. Post lunch, the Nifty recovered led by IT and Pharma stocks which led the market to a new intraday high .Stocks like ONGC, INDUSINDBK, GAIL, DRREDDY and INFY were top gainers gaining around 3-7% while stocks like HDFC, ICICIBANK, AXISBANK, SBI LIFE and TITAN were top losers that fell around 2-4%. Daily view:
About 1.11 lakh shares were added in open interest with an increase in prices this indicates that long built up was observed by market participants. On the options front, the volatility index increased by 6%.

The Nifty call option added 39.32 lakh shares in open interest and the put option added 61.36 shares in open interest. SAIL (47%), TORNTPOWER (23%), MGL (20%) IOC (15%) and BAJFINANCE (14%) were the top gainers in terms of open interest. L&TFH (-18), APOLLOHOSP (-14%), BALKRISIND (-12%), RBLBANK (-11%) and DLF(-10%) were the top losers in terms of open interest. Overall futures & options volumes currently stand at 269.38 lakh contracts, with a turnover of Rs 2190026 cr. Volumes in F&O were higher as compared to the previous trading session.
