Varun Dubey, Senior Research Analyst in a discussion with Zee Business Managing Editor, Anil Singhvi talked about the surge in the cost of flight tickets.

Varun in the discussion said that one-way flight ticket for one person from Mumbai to Allahabad (Prayagraj) was priced at Rs. 17,000, and according to him, it is not just one location with such high prices, especially from cities like Mumbai, Delhi to the tier two cities.

According to Varun, the tickets are unaffordable and on average the prices of tickets from metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Kolkata to tier two cities have soared to 30 percent compared to last year. One of the reasons behind tickets getting costlier is the increase in the price of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) by 80 percent as compared to last year. Another reason according to Varun is the surge in the number of bookings as compared to 2021.

Also, there's been upto 40% rise in searches for flights, which has contributed to the fluctuation in the price of air tickets around Diwali and Dussehra. Hotel bookings have already seen a surge of 5 to 10 percent.
