Nifty managed to cross the 13500 mark in yesterday’s session aided by buying at lower levels. The Nifty Bank, Financial, Media and Reality indices closed in the green zone while Nifty Metal, PSU and Auto indices closed in the red zone. Stocks like UPL, ASIANPAINTS, IOC, KOTAKBANK and HDFCBANK were top gainers that rose by 2-3% while stocks like HINDALCO, SHREECEM, ULTRACEMCO, WIPRO and TATASTEEL were top losers that fell by 1-1.5%. The Nifty closed at around 13577 levels gaining 1.11%.

Daily view:

About 3.48 lakh shares were added in open interest with an increase in prices this indicates that long build-up was observed by market participants. On the options front, the volatility index increased by 1.62%.

Derivatives summary:

Nifty December futures closed at a premium of 39 points versus premium of 35 points. The market added Rs 24560 cr in open interest, taking the total open interest in the F&O segment to Rs 527173 cr. The Nifty call option added 8.89 lakh shares in open interest and the put option added 90.08 lakh shares in open interest. PNB (28%) BEL (18%), ACC (16%), SIEMENS (14%) WIPRO (13%) and PVR (12%) were the top gainers in terms of open interest. ICICIPRULI (-14), TATACHEM (-12%), BOSCHLTD (-9%) and CHOLAFIN (-9%) and BANKBARODA (-6%) were the top losers in terms of open interest. Overall futures & options volumes currently stand at 304.63 lakh contracts, with a turnover of Rs 2616665 cr. Volumes in the F&O segment were higher as compared to the previous trading session.
