The Indian market ended Monday’s session on a positive note, with the Sensex surging nearly 500 points, while the Nifty50 inching towards the 18100-level, as almost all indices, soared over 1 per cent.

The BSE Sensex surged 478 points or 0.8 per cent to 60545.6-level, while Nifty50 gained 152 points or 0.85 per cent to 18068.55-mark at the market close. Even the broader markets closed in the green, with the mid-cap index surging by 376 points or 1.2 per cent to 31818-level today.

Nifty Bank, a key driver to Nifty50, dipped marginally by 87 points or 0.22 per cent to 39486.2 levels, as the decline led by IndusInd Bank.

As many as 40 stocks closed in the green, and 10 scrips in the red on the Nifty50. PSU counter Indian Oil Corporation gained over 4.5 per cent, followed by Titan, Bajaj Finserv, UltraTech Cement, each surged over 4 per cent in the positive market today at the close.  

While stocks such as Tech Mahindra, Kotak Bank, Grasim, BPCL each gained over 3 per cent, and HDFC, NTPC, Adani Ports, Tata Motors, Bajaj Finance, and ONGC gained between 2-3 per cent at the market close today.

On the contrary, IndusInd Bank slipped over 10 per cent, dragging the market and banking index most, followed by Divis Lab declined over 5 per cent amid weak operational performance in Q2 earnings at the market close on Monday.

While M&M, SBI, Hindalco, Maruti, Asian Paints, TCS, and ICICI Bank each declined marginally during today’s trade.

Almost all sectoral indices closed in the green, with the majority of them ending over 1 per cent, except for Nifty Bank and Pharma indices. The banking index slipped 0.34 per cent and pharma down 0.7 per cent, while Nifty Metal, IT, Auto, Financial each gained between 1-1.5 per cent at the market close.
