Domestic equity benchmarks Nifty50 and S&P BSE Sensex closed on record highs again, powered by metal, auto and banking shares, on Monday. Nifty50 ended Monday at 18,477.05, up 138.50 points or 0.76%, while 30-share Sensex gained 459.64 points or 0.75% to settle at 61,765.59.

Hindalco, Infosys, tech Mahindra, JSW steel, Tata Steel remained star performers for the 50-share Nifty, while on 30-share Sensex, 15 shares advanced, while 15 declined at the end of Monday's trade.     

In the opening trading, Nifty50 and Sensex have created history by opening at record highs of 18,500.10 and 61,817.32 respectively. The indices have gone on to hit day's high of 18,543.15 for Nifty 50 and 61,963.07 for the Sensex.   

Nifty Bank continued its stellar show after closing the week as top NSE index. The banking index inched closer to 40,000-mark on intraday trading on Monday as the index clocked day's high of 39,947.60, only a few shades short of historic 40,000-mark. Bank Nifty settled at 39,684.80, up 343.90 (0.87%).
