UPSC preliminary exam 2021: In a big development for the UPSC aspirants who missed the civil services exam in 2020 due to Covid 19 pandemic, the Centre has informed the Supreme Court on Friday that that the government is not favour of granting extra opportunity to these students.

As soon as the Centre conveyed its inability to give extra attempt to these students, the apex court directed the government to put it in detail on an affidavit and adjourned the matter.

The development comes after Some UPSC aspirants moved the Supreme Cour, asking for an extra attempt in view of the pandemic.

Earlier on September 30, the Supeme Court had directed the Centre and the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to consider givin an extra chance to candidates who had their last attempt in the Civil Services exam in 2020 but could not appear for the exam. The top court had also proposed a corresponding extension of the upper age-limit.

The Court had said that it should not happen that the last date of filling the forms passes by, and further posted the matter for hearing in February.
