Amid the rising covid cases in the country, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has deferred many exams under its ambit to a later date. The commission has postponed UPSC EPFO (Employees' Provident Fund Organization) Exam as well as Civil Services Examination interviews and several other recruitment examinations.

The UPSC EPFO Exam 2020 was scheduled to be held on May 9, 2021, however, the candidates appearing for the exams have urged the commission to postpone it to a later date due to a surge in the coronavirus cases.  

The commission has released a few official notifications on the postponement of the UPSC EPFO Exam and other scheduled interviews and recruitment tests. 

In an official statement, the commission said, “The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EO/AO), 2020 Recruitment Test scheduled to be held on May 09, 2021, therefore stands deferred. The Personality Tests (Interviews) of the Indian Economic Service or Indian Statistical Service Examination, 2020 (scheduled from 20th-23rd April 2021); the Civil Services Examination, 2020 (scheduled from 26th April-18th June 2021) and the Recruitment Tests are also deferred till further notice”. 

The premier commission for central services also mentioned that the dates of the UPSC EPFO Exam, interviews, and recruitment tests will be reviewed from time to time in the wake of the covid situation. And, the revised schedules of the examinations will be notified on the website of the UPSC.  

Any decision in respect of the examinations will be promptly made available on the website — upsc.gov.in, the commission assured the aspiring candidates. 

It has also ensured that the candidates would be given a notice of at least fifteen days prior on the revised exam dates. And, they must constantly keep checking the official site for more updates on UPSC EPFO Exam postponement and revised exam dates.
