Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has postponed IBPS RRB Preliminary Exam 2020, it informed via a public notice on 7 September 2020. The notice which is available on its website cites “unavoidable circumstances” to be the reason behind the postponement of the exam. The exam was scheduled to be held on 12 and 13 September 2020.

“Further to our Notice dated 10.08.2020, due to some unavoidable circumstances, it will not be possible to hold the Online Preliminary Examinations under CRP-RRB-IX on 12.09.2020 and 13.09.2020,” the notice read.

The application process started on 1 July and ended on 21 July 2020. The preliminary exam for Officer Scale I and Office Assistants was scheduled on September 12, 13, 19, 20 and 26, 2020 and a single exam for Officers Scale II and III is on October 18, 2020, and the main exam for Officer Scale I is on October 18, 2020.

IBPS is an autonomous body which was created to render assistance to organisations mandated to undertake recruitment, selection and placement activities. It further said that a revised date will be posted on the official IBPS website - www.ibps.in. Applicants are advised to regularly check the status of the exam.

The admit cards will be released once the new examination dates are announced. The admit card were expected to release this week as per the previous schedule.

The selection for Officer Scale 1 includes a Prelims Exam, Mains Exam followed by an Interview while a single level exam is conducted for the post of Officers Scale II and III followed by an interview. And as for the posts of Office Assistant, the selection is done on the basis of the Prelims Exam, Mains Exam followed by an interview round.

Under this recruitment drive, IBPS will likely fill 9638 posts. The preliminary examination would be conducted online and a total of 80 objective type questions will be included in the question paper. Office Assistant (Multipurpose) post will have questions in reasoning and numerical ability and Officer Scale I will have questions in reasoning and quantitative aptitude.
