There will be a spike in the hiring of freshers in 2023 as sectors like Indian Engineering Industries are investing to scale up their production operations generating more than 25,000 jobs for newcomers, shows the recent TeamLease EdTech Career Outlook Report.

According to the survey, Indian top 4 consultant firms are expected to hire more than 15,000 freshers across various technologies like Business Operations, Cybersecurity, Cloud Technology, Data Science, and so on.

In 2023, industries that will hire the maximum number of freshers include Information Technology, e-commerce & Technology Start-ups, and telecommunication sectors. Cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, and Delhi will witness the highest number of fresher hiring in 2023, added the report.

5G services in India allow the telecom industry market to cross USD 133 billion mark by 2023, thereby creating a demand of up to 45,000 jobs, highlighted the survey. Similarly, India's IT and business services market is projected to reach USD 19.93 billion by 2025 and IT spending is expected to touch USD 144 billion in 2023. So, Indian top IT companies forecast that they would hire 155,000 freshers in the next financial year.

The retail sector will also bring several employment opportunities for freshers, stated the survey. By 2024, the Retail Industry market is expected to rise to USD 1.3 trillion, thereby creating around 50,000 jobs for new graduates.

“India’s top retail chains are planning to expand their business operations across metropolitan cities and also in tier-II and tier-III cities, expected to create a demand of up to 50,000 jobs for freshers,” stated the report.
 
The survey also highlighted that while hiring freshers, the companies particularly look for some specific skills like cognitive flexibility, curiosity/continual learning, and emotional intelligence. The employers also expect freshers to have good negotiation and persuasion skills.
