The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) resumed its luxury tourist train service on Sunday, March 14. Let's have a look at its itinerary and important highlights.

"Vacation times are back now. The Golden Chariot Train embarked on its 6Nights/7 Days "Pride of Karnataka" itinerary from Yesvantpur Bengaluru Railway Station today amid traditional Indian welcome and hospitality to the picturesque landscape & destinations of South India," had said IRCTC in a tweet on Sunday. This luxury tourist train service was started by the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) in 2008. The Golden Chariot was handed over to the IRCTC for operational and marketing purposes by the Karnataka Tourism Department in January 2020. Source: Ministry of Railways

IRCTC Golden Chariot coaches
The luxury train has 18 coaches with as many as 44 guest rooms, having a capacity of 84 guests. The coaches of golden chariot have 26 twin beds along with 17 double bed cabins and one cabin for the physically challenged. Each cabin is equipped with a small wardrobe, vanity desk, LCD TV, a private washroom and other features. The coaches have recently also been upgraded, giving more royal touch.
