A big news is now emerging regarding the Indian Railways. This is with regards to the redevelopment of the New Delhi Railway station. The government is moving swiftly towards its plan for redeveloping the New Delhi Railway Station and the bidding process has already started. Zee Business’ Sameer Dixit has this exclusive report.

Dixit tells that the big news is that 9 companies have been shortlisted to participate in the bidding process. They will now go ahead with financial bid.

The companies shortlisted include some of the big names in the infrastructure sector the likes of GMR Group, Adani Railways, Omaxe and Kalptaru Power Transmission Limited, he said. 

Not just the domestic companies, foreign companies have also been shortlisted for this project, he said. The government has shortlisted 4 foreign companies to take part in the bidding process. One of the major companies is Arabian Construction Company.

Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) which is the nodal agency for this will now invite financial bids under the Request For Proposal (RFP) process, Dixit said. 

The New Delhi Redevelopment Project is worth Rs 6,500 cr. It is expected that the entire bidding process is completed within 2-3 months. The bidder will be shortlisted to do the redevelopment project.  

The options will be open to earn revenues for the company which finally be selected for the redevelopment. The company will be free to charge the passenger, a user development fee or get extra income by building a retail infrastructure, he further said. 

A good thing about this project will be that the redevelopment will positively impact the areas in the vicinity of the railway station, Dixit said. 

He said that sensing the opportunity, companies have shown eagerness in this project and participate in the bidding process despite the ongoing pandemic situation.
