Mumbai pointsman, who saved the life of a child on Monday, was welcomed amid cheers and claps by railway staff at Central Railway office on Tuesday. Mayur Shelkhe had risked his own life as he saved the child from being run over by a train.

"Maharashtra: Railway staff at Central Railway office clap for pointsman Mayur Shelkhe, who saved the life of a child who lost his balance while walking at platform 2 of Vangani railway station & fell on railway tracks, on 17th April. Shelkhe was also felicitated," tweeted news agency ANI.

Earlier, in an incredible act of bravery, central railway pointsman had saved the life of a child after he fell off the platform while the train was approaching. The Ministry of Railways has shared a video in which Pointsman Mayur Shelkhe, posted at Vangani station of the Mumbai Suburban Railway network, was seen saving the child's life just in nick of time. While he endangered his own life as he ran towards the speeding train, he managed to beat the train by the fraction of a second.    

Taking to Twitter to praise exemplary act of bravery by Mayur, the Ministry of Railways tweeted, "A Good Samaritan: At Vangani station of Central Railway, Pointsman Mr. Mayur Shelkhe saved the life of a child just in the nick of the time. He risked his life to save the life of the child."    

As the video surfaced on the micro blogging website, Twitterati hailed the pointsman bravery and asked the government to reward him.      

 

"Running on railway track is very very difficult, he made it look so easyy.  @RailMinIndia pls reward him," said one Deepesh.    
Another Twitter user who goes by name, V M Sehajpal, wrote, "Wonderful, that person is a real life heroSmiling face with smiling eyes! I pray that Bhagwan Shri Ram Blesses that noble soul, he almost risked his own life to save that child."
