Vande Bharat Express train route: Indian Railways is running seven advanced semi-speed trains or the Vande Bharat Express Trains. The train is equipped with all modern amenities and offers passengers an experience that comes only second to flying in an aircraft.

The first train of this fleet was the Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat Express which was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 15, 2019. It is the country's first and Indian Railways’ fastest engine-less train.

State-of-the-art safety features like Kavach technology have been induced to ensure proper safety of the passengers.

Vande Bharat Express trains consist of executive coaches with reclining seats in all classes, with the added facility of 180-degree rotating seats.

Union Minister for Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, has said that Vande Bharat coaches will be manufactured in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Maharashtra. These are currently manufactured in Chennai.

1- New Delhi Varanasi Vande Bharat Express

The Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat Express trains cover the 770 km distance between Delhi and Varanasi. The travel time is just 8 hours and the train stops at only two stations – Kanpur and Prayagraj. An AC Chair Car ticket in the train costs Rs 1,670, while an Executive Chair Car ticket costs Rs 3,075.

Trains number 22436 runs on all days, barring Monday and Thursday, and starts at 6:00 am from New Delhi to reach Varanasi by 14:00 pm. From Varanasi, the train (now number 22435) starts at 15:00 pm to reach New Delhi by 23:00 pm.

2- Gandhinagar-Mumbai Central Vande Bharat Express 

India’s third Vande Bharat Express was flagged off by PM Modi on 30 September 30, 2022. It runs on all days except Sunday and stops at 4 stations – Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Surat. The Vande Bharat Express starts at 14:05 pm from Gandhinagar to reach Mumbai Central by 20:15 pm. From Mumbai, the train starts at 6:10 am and reaches Gandhinagar by 12:25 pm. The ticket price for AC Chair Car is Rs 1,320 and Rs 2,415 for Executive Chair Car. The trains numbered 20901, and 20902, cover a distance of 520 kms in 6 hours 15 mins.

3- New Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat Express 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah had flagged-off the Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat Express from the New Delhi Railway Station on October 3, 2019. The train covers a distance of over 650 km in 8 hours. It stops at 3 stations — Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana and Jammu Tawi. The train number 22439 departs from the New Delhi Railway Station at 6 am to reach Katra by 14:00 pm. And while returning, as train number 22440, it departs at 3PM, and reached New Delhi station at 11PM on the same day.

4- New Delhi- Amb Andaura Vande Bharat Express

New Delhi- Amb Andaura Vande Bharat Express was flagged-off from Una railway station on October 13, 2022. The train covers a distance of 415 km in 5 hours 15 mins. It runs on all days except Friday and stops at 4 stations – Ambala Cant, Chandigarh, Anandpur Sahib and Una.

The train number 22447 starts at 5:50 am from New Delhi to reach Amb Andaura by 11:05 am. While returning, as train number 22448, the train leaves Amb Andaura at 13:00 pm and reaches New Delhi 18:25 pm. The ticket price for AC Chair Car is Rs 1,155 and Rs 2,065 for Executive Chair Car.

5- Chennai-Mysuru Vande Bharat Express

South India's first and country’s fifth, this Vande Bharat Express was launched on 11 November, 2022. The high-speed train has two stops at Katpadi and KRS Bengaluru. In its journey from Chennai, train number 20607, departs at 5:50 am and takes 6 hours 30 minutes to reach Mysuru by 12:20 pm. From Mysuru, as train number 20608, it starts at 13:05 pm and arrives in Chennai at 19:30 pm.

AC Chair Car ticket in the train costs Rs 1,270 and Executive Chair Car costs Rs 2,290.

6- Bilaspur-Nagpur Vande Bharat Express

It is country’s sixth Vande Bharat train, and was flagged off last month. Train number 20825 leaves at 5:45 am from Bilaspur to arrive in Nagpur by 12:15 pm. In its return journey, as train number 20825, it starts at 14:05 pm from Nagpur and reaches Bilaspur at 19:35 pm. It runs on six days of the week, barring Saturday, and covers a distance of a little over 400 km in 5 hours 30 minutes. It has 4 stops — Raipur, Durg, Raj Nandgaon and Gondia.

An Executive Class ticket in the Bilaspur-Nagpur Vande Bharat will cost Rs 2,240, while a seat in the AC Chair Car has been priced at Rs 1,240, according to the IRCTC website.

7- Howrah to New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express

Howrah to New Jalpaiguri (NJP) Vande Bharat Express train — India's 7th Vande Bharat Express was flagged-off on December 30, 2022. It is the first Vande Bharat series train to operate in the eastern state of West Bengal.

It operates on six days of the week, barring Wednesdays. As train number 22301, itt departs from Howrah at 5.55 am and reaches New Jalpaiguri at 13:25 pm, covering a 600 km run in 7.5 hours. On its return journey, it departs NJP as train number 22302, at 15:05 hours, to reach Howrah at 22:35 hours.

The train stops at 3 stations — Bolpur (Shantiniketan), Malda town and Barsoi.
