Mumbai Local Train Services: There is some good news for the Mumbai sub-urban people. The Railways will resume 100 per cent of the Mumbai sub-urban services from tomorrow, October 28, 2021.

In a recent tweet, the Ministry of Railways has tweeted about the resumption of 100 per cent of the services for the Mumbai sub-urban regions from its official Twitter handle. The tweet said, "Railways to resume 100% Mumbai Suburban Services from 28th October, 2021.Only categories identified by State Govt. as on date are permitted to travel as per SOP. Currently, Railways is running 95.70% of its suburban services."

 

It has to be noted that due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the train services came to a stop from March 22, 2020. Later from June 15, 2020, the Railways began suburban services for essential service categories as identified by the state government and approved by Ministry of Railways. The categories of commuters who were allowed by the state government and approved by Ministry of Railways were subsequently enlarged in August 2021 and in recent weeks to travel in suburban trains.

As per the official website of Central Railways, at present, Central Railways and Western Railways are running 1702 and 1304 suburban services o­n Mumbai division of CR and WR respectively which is 95.70 per cent of its total suburban services.

From tomorrow, October 28, 2021, Central and Western Railways will run suburban services to Pre-Covid level o­n Mumbai division of CR and WR, that is, 1774 o­n Central Railway and 1367 o­n Western Railway.

The passengers must also note that the only categories identified by the state government and also as per the SOP released by them are permitted to travel.
