IRCTC Food: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) on Tuesday clarified that there has been no change in the prices of the standard food menu of trains. The old menu is available at its old price. An additional A-La-Carte menu has been implemented to provide more choices to the passengers, it added.

Recently, Indian Railway decided to give IRCTC flexibility to customize the menu to improve the catering services on trains. This includes "the items of regional cuisines/preferences, seasonal delicacies, requirements during festivals, food items as per the preferences of the different group of passengers such as diabetic food, baby food, health food options including millet based local products, etc," as per official notification.

After that, in some media reports on Tuesday morning, it was claimed that the food available on trains has become expensive. Railways have increased the prices of chapati and tea on trains. On which IRCTC clarified that there has been no change in the prices of normal food available in the pantry of the train.

Prices of new items

IRCTC said that it had released the new A-La-Carte menu for the passengers. The price of the new item is placed under the new tariff card.

According to the food menu of IRCTC, apart from the fixed menu available in the morning and evening during the train journey, passengers can also order A-La-Carte as per their choice. Under this menu, passengers have more than 70 food options.

Along with veg and non-veg items, sweets are also included in the menu. Sugar-free food option is also available for diabetic patients. Apart from this, some special food items will also be severed in different zones.
