Ministry of Railways on Monday announced that Indian Railways has rolled out User Depot Module (UDM). User Depot Module (UDM) developed by CRIS (Centre for Railway Information Systems) was rolled out digitally across all User Depots of Western Railway by  P. C. Sharma, Member (T&RS) on 28.09.2020, Ministry of Railways said in a statement.

Ministry of Railways confirmed, "This system will be implemented shortly across all Zones of Indian Railways. Railway’s supply chain up to Stores Depots has already been digitized, however, activities at user end are being done manually.

Transformational changes

Ministry of Railways said, "Implementation of this system will bring in transformational changes from manual working to digital working with real time transactions and online information exchange among all stakeholders. This will ensure digitization of complete supply chain, including user depots."

"The system will facilitate economy, efficiency and transparency besides improved asset management. It will ensure improved service level and satisfaction to customers," Ministry of Railways added.

Earlier, on 25th September, a Pre-bid Meeting was conducted regarding CSMT Railway Station redevelopment project. CEO, Niti Aayog and Chairman & CEO, Railway Board chaired the Pre-bid meeting of CSMT project via digital platform. Member (Infrastructure), Railway Board, GM, Central Railway and GM, Northern Railways also attended.  

"Redevelopment of railway stations across India is a priority agenda of Ministry of Railways, Government of India. This agenda is being driven with full force by the Government with the participation of private players as a part of PPP. The Pre-bid meeting held today received huge response from the industry and developers & fund houses seemingly are very much interested in this investment opportunity," Ministry of Railways said after the meeting.
