Western Railway Latest News: The Indian Railways have an opportunity to rejoice. There has been a significant increase in the revenue of Western Railways and it has crossed Rs 3000 crore. This increase has been 63 per cent more as compared to the corresponding period last year.

The Western Railways has tweeted about this achievement from its official Twitter handle. The tweet said, "Western Railway achieves significant increase in its revenue, crosses Rs 3000 Crore. The revenue has been more than 63 percent as compared to corresponding period of last year." 

 

According to the press release issued by Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer, Western Railways, the goods and parcel special trains have been continuously travelling throughout the country in order to keep the supply of essential commodities moving. In addition to this, the special passenger/ express trains have also been announced from time to time, to help the passengers to reach their destination. 

The press release stated that the Western Railways, in the financial year, 2021-22 recorded revenue of Rs 3106 crore. This total revenue includes goods revenue of Rs 2527 crore and passenger revenue of Rs 378 crore. The revenue received through other coaching is Rs 104 crore and sundry revenue of Rs 97 crore. It has to be noted that the revenue has been 63 per cent more than last year's revenue in the corresponding period. 

Thakur further said in the press release that Western Railways have run 207 parcel trains from April 1, 2021, to July 3, 2021, to transport essential goods to various parts of the country. During this period, the loading in goods trains recorded 20.95 million tonnes as compared to 15.80 million tonnes in the corresponding period last year.
