The Indian Railways had announced that it will be operating 40 pairs of new passenger trains in addition to the 230 trains that had resumed earlier. The booking for these 80 trains started today (September 10). These special trains will start running from 12 September onwards. The timing of these trains will be as per regular trains. Stoppages will be restricted and will be taken into consideration after discussion with respective state governments.

Some of the new trains include those on the Delhi-Indore, Yesvantpur-Gorakhpur, Puri-Ahmedabad, New Delhi-Bengaluru routes. 

The passengers should know that these special trains will be fully reserved trains. 

How to book tickets through IRCTC? 

Go to IRCTC website (irctc.co.in) or IRCTC app.  

Click on the 'Register' button to create an IRCTC account, in case you do not have an account already. 

If you have an account, enter your credentials and passwords to log in. 

Once you are logged in, see if you have a seat in that class or not.  

If seats are available, you can book tickets by clicking on the "Book Now" button.  

Enter the names of passengers for whom tickets are being booked. 

Enter the mobile number and captcha code. Then click on booking.  

Pay using credit card, debit card, net banking or UPI.  

After payment, you will be able to download the ticket.  

You will also receive an SMS on your phone number. 

To recall, the Indian Railways had suspended all passenger trains due to the imposition of a nationwide lockdown from March 25. The services were partially resumed later with Shramik Special trains to help stranded migrant workers reach their home states from May 1.
