The facilities provided to passengers in AC-3 Economy and the legacy AC coaches are largely similar with minor differences. Here are the key differences between the two coaches —    

How is AC-3 Economy different from AC-3?

In AC-3 there are 6 berths and 2 side berths in each compartment. It does not have a middle berth between the side lower and the side upper. 

Whereas, AC-3 Economy has 3 side berths, making it a total of 9 berths per compartment. It has an additional berth between the side upper and side lower.

Berth capacity

Berth capacity in AC-3 Economy has been increased from 72 to 83, whereas AC-3 coaches have a berth capacity of 72.

Fare

The fare for AC-3 Economy is much cheaper than AC-3. The fare structure for AC-3 Economy is roughly 8 per cent lesser than 3AC Coach.

Other salient features of AC-3 Economy rakes

-Improved and modular design of seats and berth.

-Foldable snack tables in both longitudinal and transverse bays.

-Individual AC vents for each berth.

-Wider toilet door and entrance door for Divyangjan in each coach.
