If you have lost your Unique Identification Number (UID)/or Aadhaar Enrollment ID (EID) or even their slip, you need not worry anymore. Yes, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has guided people how to get back their UID or EID. You can do it by two ways—one by visiting its website or by dialling 1947.

UIDAI took to Twitter to inform people about it. It wrote, “Lost Aadhaar and also lost enrolment slip? Don't worry. You can retrieve your EID (enrolment ID) by calling our helpline 1947. You can also retrieve your EID or UID (Aadhaar) online.”    

To retrieve it online, one needs to visit the official website of UIDAI: uidai.gov.in. Once you are on the website, look for ‘My Aadhaar’ section.  There you will find ‘Aadhaar Services’. Click on ‘Aadhaar services’ tab, you will be directed to ‘Retrieve Lost or Forgotten EID/UID.’  

*Here you will be provided with an option to select ‘I want to retrieve my lost or forgotten’  
*Click on Aadhaar No (UID) or Enrolment ID (EID), whichever you want to retrieve.    
*Fill other details, such as full name, mobile number, email address and captcha as instructed.  
*Click on send OTP.    
*Now you are good to go. You can set retrieve your UID or EID. 
OR  
*Go to resident.uidai.gov.in/lost-uideid section to simply fill the details in order to retrieve your lost/forgotten UID and EID.    

Note: Your registered Mobile Number / Email which you had provided at the time of enrolment is mandatory to retrieve your lost UID / EID, as per the UIDAI.
UIDAI has also made available a QR code to get back your UID or EID in its recent tweet.  

Aadhaar card is a very important document and is required to avail most of the government benefits and schemes. Aadhaar card serves as personal id as well as it is also the most credible address proofs.
