Mentha oil prices were trading up by 0.88 per cent to Rs 1,120 per kg in futures market today as speculators built up fresh positions amid pick-up in demand at domestic spot market against restricted arrivals from producing regions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in August rose by Rs 9.80, or 0.88 per cent, to Rs 1,120 per kg in a business turnover of 408 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in September was trading higher by Rs 9.90, or 0.88 per cent, to Rs 1,132 per kg in 66 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by traders, driven by pick-up in demand from consuming industries in the spot market against restricted supplies from Chandausi, led to the rise in mentha oil prices in futures trade.
