Buoyed by the success of LED bulb distribution at USD 1 per unit in India and the UK, the state-owned EESL is getting ready to enter Malaysia next month with an initial plan to sell 1 million lamps.

Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) is also seized with plans to sell in the country other energy-efficient appliances such as fans and tubelights -- which it distributes in India.

Moreover, it is scouting for business opportunities that will offer energy efficiency solutions in Malaysia.

EESL distributes such bulbs at around Rs 70 per unit under the UJALA scheme of the central government and has brought down their prices through bulk procurement without any subsidy.
