In Pictures! The Chinars - Income Tax Departments new beautiful office complex in Srinagar
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday inaugurated ‘The Chinars’, a new office-cum-residential complex of the Income Tax Department in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. The department has shared some beautiful pictures of the premises along with its history. Take a look.
The Chinars - Origin
The Chinars derives its name from Chinar trees which have been central to the history of Kashmir. In fact, the complex is home to 4 Chinar trees.
History
From a humble rented abode in Barbarshah, in 1954, to one of the largest civilian offices of the Government of India in Srinagar today, ‘The Chinars’ marks an inspiring journey for the I-T Department.
Construction
The 3.5-acre campus, adjoining the silk factory on the banks of Jhelum, was acquired in 2008. The project started in Nov 2015 by NBCC and completed in July 2020.
Facilities
‘The Chinars’ consists of a total of 8 buildings having office building of Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, Srinagar and its associated offices, 33 Residential units for the officers posted in Srinagar, and an eight-room guest-house for the visitors.
Services to Citizens
According to the I-T Department, the establishment of the office complex and the attached Aaykar Seva Kendra will facilitate and deliver quality taxpayer services and assist the taxpayers in resolving their issues.
