ZWELCAST Ltd, Ansal Housing & Construction Ltd, IVRCL Ltd, Mishka Exim Ltd, Vinyl Chemicals (India) Ltd, Morepen Laboratories Limited were trading at over 12% higher on the BSE, as key Indian equity market indices opened higher on Thursday.

The Sensex, which had closed at 33,777.38 points on Wednesday, opened higher at 33,826.25 points. The benchmark index hit the high of 33860.99 points.

Broader Nifty, which had closed at 10,444.20 points, was quoting at 10,460.10 points today, up 15.90 points or 0.15 per cent. Hindalco, Sun Pharma, Zee Entertainment, BPCL, HCL Tech, Hero MotoCorp, Ambuja Cement were the top gainers in the broader Nifty. 

Key indices on the equity markets closed lower on Wednesday on weak global cues, coupled with heavy selling pressure in the banking and auto stocks, huge outflow of foreign funds and Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) Monetary Policy Committee meet minutes after market hours dented investors' appetite.

Japan's Nikkei 225 and South Korea's Kospi were trading in red, while Hong Kong-based Hang Seng and China's Shanghai Composite index were in positive territory.

On Wednesday, Nasdaq and FTSE 100 were also down at the closing.
