If you are a Delhi Metro passenger then you can avail of 20 percent discount on fares if you travel during the lean hours, DMRC said in a Twitter post. The passengers have to use their Metro smart cards to avail of this discount. A passenger can travel with discounted fare before 8 am and after 12 noon till 5 pm, and after 9 pm. However, the passengers who do not use Metro smart cards will not get this discount. A daily passenger can save a hefty amount on fare if their travel timings are during lean hours.

Delhi has a vast expense of Metro rail network consist of routes - Red Line, Yellow Line,  Blue Line, Green Line, Violet Line, Pink Line, Magenta Line and Airport Metro Express Line. The Metro network covers Delhi and NCR cities of Gurugram, Noida and Faridabad. Over the years, Delhi Metro has become the prefered city commute option with daily officegoers and other people. 

A hike in Metro fare affects a large number of people of the city, as all sections of people now use this mode of transport. Delhi government recently announced free ride for women travellers.  In the first two months of 2019, Delhi Metro had a daily average ridership of a just over 23 lakh, which is down from the previous year's average daily ridership.
