Weather Alert: Many parts of India including West Bengal, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Delhi NCR, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, and Goa among others saw heavy rainfall India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. IMD in the release said, “A Western Disturbance as a cyclonic circulation lies over Haryana & neighbourhood in lower to upper tropospheric levels. Another Western Disturbance as a cyclonic circulation lies over south Pakistan in middle tropospheric levels. An Induced Cyclonic Circulation lies over northwest Rajasthan at lower tropospheric levels. A trough/wind discontinuity runs from west Vidarbha to South Interior Karnataka in lower tropospheric levels.”

Delhi Weather on May 2

A day after heavy rain lashed many parts of Delhi, the minimum temperature settled at 19.3 degrees Celsius, five notches below normal, the weather office said on Tuesday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thundershowers and gusty winds during the day in the city. The national capital recorded 15 mm rainfall in the 24 hours ended at 8.30 am on Tuesday, the IMD said.

It is the second coolest day in May in 13 years and the second consecutive day when the maximum temperature settled 10 degrees below normal during this year's summer season, which generally sees the mercury soaring during the month.
 

Delhi Air Quality Index

On Tuesday, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was 'satisfactory', recording a reading of 73. An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'.
 

Mumbai Weather on May 2

The minimum temperature recorded today in Mumbai is around 27 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature might reach 32 degrees Celsius. IMD said that light rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Mumbai, Thane and Palghar during the next three to four hours. "Light to moderate spells of rain very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Mumbai, Thane and Palghar during next 3-4 hours," a nowcast warning issued by IMD at 10 am on Sunday said.

According to the IMD, thunderstorms with lightning, light to moderate rainfall and gusty wind 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at a few places in Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gondia and Yavatmal and at isolated places over Washim, Amravati and Gadchiroli districts of Vidarbha.
