“Due to decreasing thunderstorm activities, there is a slight rise in the temperature in the last 2 to 3 days. Yesterday Jharsuguda has recorded the highest temperature of 38.5 °C,” said Dr. HR Biswas, Director, IMD Bhubaneswar

“In the coming 4 to 5 days the temperature can go up by 1°C or 2 °C but not more than that, as there are chances for thunderstorm activities in many districts. There won't be any heatwave-like condition,” added Dr. HR Biswas, Director, IMD Bhubaneswar.

The Meteorological Department also alerted that thunderstorms with hail, lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph, and moderate to intense rain spells can likely be expected in some parts of Jajpur, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Jatasinghpur, and Nabaranpur during the next 3 hours.

The IMD has warned of minor damage to loose/unsecured structures and standing crops.  People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
