Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is set to appear on Man vs Wild with ace adventurer Bear Grylls on August 12, told the popular TV host that his upbringing does not allow him to take a life, when asked to use a spear in defense against a potential attacker. Standing by his values, PM Modi said that he will carry the spear as insisted by Grylls but will not use it. "My upbringing does not allow me to take a life. However, I will hold on to it (the spear) since you insist!", prime minister was heard saying in a sneak peek clip shared by  Discovery Network on its YouTube channel.

The episode was shot in the Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand, named after the famous British hunter and nationalist. In the video, PM Modi can be seen talking to Grylls about his childhood, nature and other things. When Grylls pointed out towards the dangers vicinity (on account of wild animals), PM Modi replied, "We should not consider this place dangerous. When we go against nature then everything becomes dangerous; human beings too become dangerous. On the other hand, if we co-operate with nature, then she also co-operates with us."

The Prime Minister also recalled his childhood days and said that he used to create bathing salts from dew as a child. He even talked about his encounters with wildlife as a child and environment conservation.
