The state is hoping to tap into the creativity and aspirations of citizens with a contest to design a logo and tag line for the Right to Services (RTS) Act, 2005, and it is going to reward the winner with prize money of up to Rs 50,000. The Right to Services Commission along with the state government has come up with the idea of holding the competition for a logo as well as a tag line, in both English and Marathi, that best describes the Act. The Act, a flagship endeavour of the Devendra Fadnavis-led state government, aims to provide timely essential services to people.

Around 39 departments and 438 services have been notified under the Act. A service needs to be notified for a person to avail it under the Act. Those that can be availed include birth and death certificates and land records. “We have decided to ask citizens to suggest a logo and tag line for the Act which can go with it and best describes the Act. The idea is to make the Act more popular with the citizens so they can avail of the services notifoed under the Act. People who can suggest the best tag line and logo will get Rs 25,000 as prize money. If the same person can suggest the best logo and tag line, they can win the entire amount,” said Swadheen Kshatriya, chief of RTS commisison.

Entries have to be submitted within a month from April 20, that is till the midnight of May 20. The best entry will be chosen as the logo and tag line. To participate, register and send entries online at https://maharashtra.mygov.in.

In the last three years since the Act was enacted, the state has received over 3 crore applications seeking services under the Act. In the last financial year (April 2017-March 2018), it got more than 1 crore applications.
