You may check the voter ID status online as well as offline after applying for the card. Here is a step-by-step guide for both who have applied for a new voter card or requested a modification. 

Voter ID status: Documents required 

  • Voter card application reference number or acknowledgement number that you received at the time of registration.
  • Registered mobile number or email ID. 

Voter ID status: How to track online? 

  • Visit the Election Commission of India's National Voter's Service Portal (NVSP) website at https://www.nvsp.in/.
  • Enter the 'Reference ID' that you got at the time of Voter ID Registration & Form No.
  • Click on 'Track Status' (Voter ID Status).
  • The status of your Voter ID will be displayed on the screen. 

Voter ID status: How to track offline? 

  • Visit the nearest Electoral Registration Office (ERO) of your constituency.
  • You can find the ERO details on Election Commission's website.
  • Provide the ERO with the required details like your name, address, application reference number, or acknowledgement number.
  • ERO will provide you with the status of your voter ID card.

One can follow the same to check the correction status of a voter ID card offline.

  • Go to the national voter's service portal - The official website of the National Voter Portal.
  • Enter the reference number that was provided to you during the Form 8 submission (online or offline).
  • Click on 'Track Status' to see the results.
  • If the application is not processed and it is in a pending status, you can bookmark the page to visit later.

You can also track the status of your Voter ID by calling 1950 from your BSNL or MTNL telephone.
