Uttarakhand Lockdown News Today: The unprecedented COVID-19 situation in the country has compelled many state governments to enforce lockdowns or curfews. Some states have also extended the curfews. Recently, the corona curfew in certain districts of Uttarakhand has been extended till May 6, 2021.

The district magistrates of Dehradun, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar in Uttarakhand on Sunday extended the ‘Corona Curfew’ till May 6 until  5 AM as per india.com. Press agency ANI has also tweeted regarding this decision. "Uttarakhand: Dehradun district magistrate extends 'Corona Curfew' till 5 am on May 6," ANI tweeted. The massive surge in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state has prompted this decision.

 

In view of the COVID-19 situation in the state, on Saturday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat issued some new guidelines. He further lowered the cap on the number of people attending a marriage ceremony in the state from 100 to 25.

A curfew was imposed in Dehradun district, Haldwani Municipal Corporation, Lalkuan Nagar Panchayat and Ramnagar areas of Nainital district from April 27, 2021, to May 3. Now, the curfew has been further extended till May 3, 2021, till 5 AM.

While reviewing the COVID-19 situation of the state through a video conference, the Uttarakhand CM directed all district magistrates to limit the number of people attending marriage ceremonies to 25. Moreover, he also authorised the DMs to reduce the duration for the opening of marketplaces if they find it to be necessary. Rawat ordered the payment of an incentive of Rs 1,000 each to Asha volunteers.

It has also been instructed by the Chief Minister that the COVID-19 helpline numbers in the state of Uttarakhand should be fully active and they should keep updating information related to availability of beds and injections. He has also stressed his focus on increasing the number of oxygen cylinders. He has also asked to fix the ambulance rates in order to control over-rating.

In other COVID-19 related news, India witnessed a slight dip in the number of COVID-19 cases as it registered 3,68,147 coronavirus cases and 3417 related deaths over the last 24 hours. The number of cases reached over four lakhs on May 1, 2021.
