US Election 2020 result: The fight between incumbent President Donald Trump and challenger Joe Biden has come down to the wire, Zee Business Managing Editor Anil Singhvi said, likening the situation to an IPL tournament where teams are jostling among themselves to reach the play-offs stage.

Four states including North Carolina, Pennsylvania are the keys to the Oval office. It could go either way, he said.  

He warned the investors of any notion of one-sided movement of the markets adding that there will be volatility. This is likely to stay till a clear winner emerges.

It will also be interesting to see if the transfer is smooth in the event of Biden winning the elections. There could be volatility if there is some tussle during the handing over of the reigns.  

There could be two views now which may emerge and impact the markets – one is the election of Biden may not find favour with the markets. The markets have already had a strong rally before the elections and could lead to profit booking, Singhvi opined. 

The Market Guru said that the profit booking may come in stages. The first stage will be who eventually wins the election; second could the how smooth the process of handing over of reigns would be. The next stage is what announcements are made by whoever takes the office.  

It will also be interesting how the elected government conducts itself despite the announcements or promises made before elections.  

If Biden is elected, will he be able to dispels market fears and present himself as a market friendly President?
