Farmers, agriculture experts and policymakers came together at this special initiative in Lucknow on December 19, four days ahead of the Kisan Diwas. The thought-provoking event served as the grand culmination of Gulf Oil’s ‘Supreme Tractorotsav’, a series of on-ground events that sought to connect with farmers across six regions of Uttar Pradesh.

UP Krishi Manch was inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi. Delivering his keynote address, the minister said that the government is consistently educating farmers about the best farming practices and technologies. He said that government also plans to host agriculture fair at district level.

"The challenge is that several farmers have not been given proper training. In Rajasthan, technologies like deep irrigation have been adopted by the farmers. As the state witnesses less rainfall, it has helped the farmers there. We have also started a new program for the farmers in UP which we will believe will help them," he said.

Several panels were formed during the event where discussions were held on how companies or individuals are bringing in new ways to help farmers including tractor-owners improve farm productivity and income. The event helped burst various myths around farming and had rich discussions that should help farmers increase productivity and income.

At the same event, Gulf Oil also recognized and awarded winners of its ‘Gulf Supreme Tractorotsav’.

"Gulf Supreme Tractorotsav was started with a vision to  engage with tractor owners in a sporting context and also help them with tractor maintenance tips and servicing from local mechanics. At the mela-like event that takes place, Agri experts connect with the audience via Video conferencing and answer questions on all things related to farming – be it the use of pesticides, fertilizers, crop rotation or diversification,” said Mr. Ravi Chawla, Managing Director, Gulf Oil Lubricants India Limited.

He added: “Gulf Supreme Tractotsav intends to be a platform for tractor-owning farmers to demonstrate their sporting skills involving their own power as well as their tractor’s power. Gulf XHD Supreme is a brand of Tractor engine oil which promises Maximum Power to the tractor engine’s functioning. Our vision is to further increase the reach and footfall of this property and in future become a national sporting event of sorts.”

This Tractorotsav was held in 6 districts of Uttar Pradesh and the winners felicitated on the UP Krishi Manch platform at the hands of the minister and Gulf Oil representative.
