IRCTC Agent: The Indian Railways is planning to introduce its new catering policy soon. In this new catering policy, the Indian Railways is mulling to provide combo meal to its passengers. Under the combo meal offer the meals that may cut into the list of IRCTC agent's offers are rajma-chawal, chawal-dal, chhole-bhatoore, roti-sabji etc. The Indian Railways is making all its efforts on how to bring these IRCTC offers related to the combo meal at Rs 50.

In this new IRCTC policy, the Indian Railways is thinking of promoting e-catering services of the IRCTC agents. Apart from that, it is also mulling to overhaul the food menu of that IRCTC agents are offering to the railway passengers. For better quality service, IRCTC would prefer local foods to the passengers. For example, in trains moving through Punjab, the IRCRC would have such a meal menu that is in sync with the Punjabi taste. In such trains, passengers will be offered Chhole-Bhatoore while in trains passing through Bihar Chilla can be found in the trays of IRCTC vendors.

To enhance the food quality in the running trains, the Indian Railways is planning to prefer branded foods only. the IRCTC would now offer the foods supplied by big brands who are image-conscious. To achieve this goal, the Indian railways would soon tie-up with some big brands of food suppliers. Through e-catering, big brands will be selected on the basis of their easy access and reach to the respective railway junctions.

According to the higher officials at Indian Railways, the e-catering services might be incepted in December 2019.  Those officials further informed that the Indian Railways has already begun its work on e-catering services. They also informed that after the new IRCTC policy, passengers will be given their food bill so that the IRCTC vendor doesn't charge them extra.
