Kerala COVID-19 Complete Weekend Lockdown: A complete lockdown will be imposed in Kerala on July 31, 2021, and August 1, 2021, due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the state.

News agency ANI tweeted about saying, "Complete lockdown to be imposed in #Kerala on 31st July and 1st August due to rising COVID19 cases in the state."

 

ANI further informed that Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has stated that the central government is sending a six-member team to Kerala. The team will be headed by the Director of National Centre for Disease Control. The Union Health Minister also said that as large number of COVID-19 cases are still being reported in Kerala, the team will aid the state’s ongoing efforts in COVID management.

 

As per an ANI report in July 26, 2021, Kerala reported 11,586 new COVID-19 cases with an overall test positivity rate (TPR) of 10.59 per cent. Furthermore, as many as 271 areas reported TPR above 15 per cent.

Kerala Health Minister Veena George said that the COVID-19 vaccine first dose has been given to all those above 45 years of age in Wayanad and Kasaragod districts as per the ANI report.

As per the health bulletin from the COVID-19 Outbreak Control and Prevention State Cell, Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Kerala, on July 28, 2021, 22056 new COVID-19 cases have been detected in the state over the last 24 hours. The bulletin further stated that 38559 new persons have been added to quarantine or isolation over the last 24 years. Also, 131 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours.
