Domestic equity indices advanced for the sixth consecutive day on Wednesday, December 31, 2020. The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange gained 133.14 points, or 0.28 per cent, to close at 47,746.22. The Nifty 50 advanced 49.35 points or 0.35 per cent, to post another record high of 13,981.95. But certain stocks came in news after the market was closed. Pfizer/AstraZeneca: The Subject Expert Committee (SEC) in Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) that met on Wednesday to consider the Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) request of Pfizer, Serum Institute of India (SII) and Bharat Biotech Pvt Limited said that the vaccine will not be given authorisation “yet” as more data is needed. Moreover, the SEC will meet again on January 1, 2021, to discuss over approving a COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use in India.

Vedanta:  Vedanta Limited wins Radhikapur West Coal Block'. Vedanta Limited emerged as the highest bidder for the Radhikapur West coal block, located in Angul district, Odisha at a distance of about 190 km from the Company’s Jharsuguda Aluminium Smelter. The mine has total reserves of 312 million tonnes and an approved per annum extraction capacity of 6 million tonnes.
