The stock markets traded almost flat within minutes of their opening on Tuesday. While the BSE Sensex was trading at 36,538.29, up by just over 51 points or 0.14 per cent, the broader market NSE Nifty 50 was trading 10,774.45, up by over 10 points or almost 0.10 per cent, in early trade.

In the 30 share BSE Sensex, 16 stocks were trading in the green at the time of opening of the market while the remaining were in the red. The top gainers on Tuesday at the time of opening were Bajaj Auto, Infosys, Bajaj Finance, Asian Paints, and HCL Technologies. The top losers were Power Grid, Mahindra & Mahndra, Axis Bank, ONGC and SBI. 

Meanwhile, Bajaj Finance, Tata Motors, Larsen and Toubro, Hindalco Industries and HDFC were the top gainers on Nifty Fifty on Tuesday in the opening trade. The top losers were Mahindra & Mahindra, Axis Bank, Bharti Infratel, Hero Motocorp and SBI.

On Monday, the Sensex ended at 36,487.28, up by almost 1.3 per cent while the Nifty 50 closed at 10,763.65, also up almost by 1.5 per cent. The Indian stock markets traded with a positive sentiment on Monday.

Today, the USDINR futures were trading at around 74.8650 against the USD at 9:30 pm on BSE.

Asian markets looked set to rise on Tuesday as investors weighed growing expectations of an economic rebound in China and a resurgent U.S. services industry, brushing off worries about a spike in U.S. coronavirus cases.

Australian S&P/ASX 200 futures climbed 0.52 per cent, while Japan`s Nikkei 225 futures rose 0.07 per cent, and Hong Kong`s Hang Seng index futures were up 0.68 per cent. E-mini futures for the S&P 500 rose 0.08 per cent following a rally in global stocks on Monday. On Wall Street, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.78 per cent, the S&P 500 gained 1.59 per cent and the Nasdaq Composite 2.21 per cent.

Emerging market stocks rose 2.65 per cent while MSCI`s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan closed 2.46 per cent higher on Monday.
