Stock Market Today: On account of negative domestic institutional investors (DIIs), the Indian stock mareket is trading sideways in the opening bell on Thursday. The BSE Sensex added 78 points and hit 37,949 levels while thh NSE Nifty went up 38 points to 11,171 mark. Bank Nifty lost 41 points and hit 22,923 levels in the early morning trade session.

Speaking on the current Indian stock market Prakash Pandey, MD & CEO at Plutus Advisors said, "Overall market is bullish till it's trading above 11,000 mark. Currently, the NSE Nifty has strong support at 10,850 and has similar level of strong resistance at 11,250. I would suggest traders and investors to maintain buy on dips strategy till NSE Nifty is above 11,000 levels."

Shares of Trident, Edelweiss Financial Services, Vakrangee, JaiprakashAssociates and ITI were among the major gainers in the intraday trade session while shares of YES Bank, Axis Bank, Omaxe, Hathway Cable & Data, Future Retail and Reliance Infrastructure were among the leading losers in the opening bell trade session.

Oil and gas stocks led the bull run on Dalal Street today as the BSE Oil & Gas index soared around 1 per cent. Oil & Gas major Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd or BHEL share price skyrocketed 4.13 per cent, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd or HPCL shares added 2.08 per cent, GAIL (India) counter added 1.67 per cent, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd or IOCL scrip rose 1.58 per cent while Castrol India went northward 1.13 per cent.

Among the major Asian markets,the Japanese Nikkei 225 index shed 0.58 per cent, South Korean Kospi dipped 0.79 per cent, Hong Kong's Hang Seng added 0.34 per cent while the Shanghai index nosedived 1.17 per cent.

At Wall Street on Wednesday, Dow Jones ended 0.62 per cent higher, Nasdaq added 0.24 per cent, S&P 500 soared 0.57 per cent while SmallCap 2000 ticked 0.04 per cent northward.
