Stock Market Today: On account of strong global cues, the Indian indices ended in the green zone after the closing bell on Friday. The BSE Sensex shot up 216 points and closed at 36,059 mark while the NSE Nifty added 52 points and closed at 10,631 levels. But, Bank Nifty index failed to sustain above 22,000 mark and finally shed 99 points and closed at 21,856 levels.

Speaking on the current market scenario Prakash Pandey, MD & CEO at Plutus Advisors said, "Indian indices are following the positive global cues but it has strong resistance at 10,660 mark while it has strong support at 10,540 levels. Telecom and IT stocks are expected to give upside movement while pharma are looking under pressure in next few trade sessions."

Telecom stocks led the bull run in the intraday trade session as the BSE telecom index shot up 3.45 per cent. Telecom major Bharti Airtel share price skyrocketed near 4 per cent, ITI shares soared 7.85 per cent, shares of Reliance Communications shot up 4.86 per cent, GTL Infrastructure stocks went northward 4.71 per cent while Bharti Infratel counter added 1.82 per cent.

Power stocks also witnessed some fresh buying as the BSE Power index soared around 1.75 per cent on Friday. Power major Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd or BHEL share price shot up 5.31 per cent, Adani Green Energy shares soared 4.99 per cent, Siemens counter surged 4.94 per cent, Thermax scrip rose 2.25 per cent while NHPC share price added 1.97 per cent.

Among the major Asian indices, the Japanese Nikkei 225 index rose 0.66 per cent, South Korean Kospi added 0.80 per cent, Hong Kong's Hang Seng scaled up 0.99 per cent while the Shanghai index surged 2.01 per cent in the early morning trade session.

At Wall Street yesterday, Dow Jones rose 0.36 per cent, Nasdaq added 0.52 per cent, SmallCap 2000 nudged northward 0.36 per cent while S&P 500 went up 0.45 per cent.
