The stock market today ended the day in the green. While the Sensex closed at 38,614.79, up by over 86 points or almost 0.22 per cent, the broader market NSE Nifty 50 was trading 11,408.90, up by over 23 points or 0.20 per cent around this time.

In the 30 share BSE Sensex, 15 stocks were trading in the green at the end of Tuesday’s trade while the remaining 15 were trading in the red. The top gainers on Wednesday in the closing trade were Tech Mahindra, Bharti Airtel, Maruti Suzuki, ICICI Bank and SBI while the top losers were Bajaj Auto, Nestle India, ONGC, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Hindustan Unilever. 

Meanwhile, 28 shares advanced while 22 declined on the Nifty 50 index. GAIL, Tech Mahindra, Bharti Airtel and Maruti Suzuki were the top gainers on Nifty Fifty on Wednesday. The top losers in the day’s trade were Bajaj Auto, ONGC, Nestle India, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Britannia Industries.

Nifty Midcap 50 and Nifty Bank were up while Nifty Auto was down at the close.

Today, the USDINR futures were trading at 74.8825 around against the USD at 3:40 pm on BSE.

On Tuesday, the Sensex ended at 38,528.32, up by almost 477 points or 1.26 per cent while the Nifty 50 closed at 11,385.35, also up by over 138 points or 1.23 percent.

European stocks edged up on Wednesday as a record high for US stocks outweighed simmering worries over a resurgence in coronavirus cases that could undermine a nascent recovery. The broad Euro STOXX 600 gained 0.1 per cent in choppy trading, with indexes from Frankfurt to London making slim gains.

MSCI`s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside of Japan fell 0.2 per cent, after initial support from an S&P 500`s charge to a record high powered by looser policy and charging tech stocks. Wall Street futures pointed to slim gains.
