But what lies in store for 2021? Will the bullish trend continue and will there be opportunities on both sides? Arora said that the big picture is that overtime the markets do well. The investors should keep this in mind that markets will likely do better than any other alternative.

The markets do not move in a uniform way like a bank deposit. Over the last 25 years the markets have given a return of 14-15 per cent in rupee terms.  

He further said that the bull run has been excellent but if one viewed the overall performance over a one-year period or three-year period, it is likely that the returns will be around 15 per cent. It could be less than 15 per cent over the three-year period as 2018 was not a very good year.

He said that the markets have peaked in a short term and that could bring some risk.  

He said that compared to last year, there would be many sectors that would have done well in this year. The stocks may see some correction in these stocks and the growth could plateau a bit, but the trends will remain positive, he added.

He said that there will be sectors that have not performed well because of the lockdown this year and would perform much better next year because of the low base affect.
