Stock Market close today: This week, stock market traders will have two holidays. The markets will remain closed today (Monday) due to Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra.  Trading will again remain shut on May 1 on account of Maharashtra Day. However, April 30 will be working day for the NSE and BSE.

On Friday, the market closed on a positive note after crude oil prices eased. BSE Sensex closed 336.47 points up, while Nifty rallied 112.85 points. Bank and IT stocks were the major contributors to Sensex's rise. SBI, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, PNB, and Kotak Bank were the gainers in the Nifty Bank index.  Tata Steel, BPCL, and GAIL were also among in the benchmark Nifty50 index. While Bajaj Auto, Tata Motors, Grasim,  and Infosys were among the losers. 

TCS, Infosys, NIIT Tech, Tech Mahindra are among the gainers in IT stocks. Investors remained in an intense buying mode for a while, on near-normal monsoon forecast and bumper corporate earnings optimism. Sensex and Nifty are hovering close to new lifetime highs. 

Rupee Appreciated against US dollar:
After taking a beating in the previous session, the domestic currency appreciated against the US dollar on Friday. Rupee closed at 70.02 per dollar. The 10-year benchmark bond yield ended at 7.53 percent on Friday. 

Oil prices:
On Friday, crude oil prices fell on expectations that Opec will raise output to counter shrinking exports from Iran after sanctions imposed by the US.
