A Spicejet flight from Jaipur overshot the runway at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, while landing here late on Monday. The Boeing aircraft of SpiceJet overshot the runway at Mumbai airport late on Monday night after its landing gear skid due to heavy rains in the city since morning.

The incident occurred when the flight SG-6237, a Boeing aircraft, arrived and landed here around 11.51 pm, as Mumbai was lashed by heavy rains. 

1. The Airport officials said that Boeing 737-800 was struck at the edge of the main runway causing flight disruptions at the airport. 

2. Airport officials helped the passengers deplane and a team of engineers was investigating the damage suffered by the aircraft.

3. All passengers were safe and no injury has been reported, while the passengers were transferred to coaches and shifted to the terminal. 

4. According to the officials, the secondary runway has been put into operation and there has been slow handling of traffic. 

5. The incident took place at 11.51 p.m. when the plane arrived from Jaipur. It could not be immediately verified as to how many passengers were on board flight SG 6237.

6. The disruption is likely to affect the schedule of international flights as few domestic flights operate late in the night. 

7. Several international flights are also likely to be diverted. First of these was the AF218 from Paris which was diverted to Bengaluru. However, the company's official statement to press is yet to be released.
