The collections were confirmed by movie critic and business analyst Taran Adarsh. "#Simmba ends 2018 on a thunderous note... Records superb numbers on Mon [31 Dec]... Will continue its victory march today [1 Jan]... It’s #Simmba wave at the BO... Fri 20.72 cr, Sat 23.33 cr, Sun 31.06 cr, Mon 21.24 cr [better than Fri]. Total: ₹ 96.35 cr. India biz," he tweeted.

With Tuesday being New Year and public holiday in most parts of the country, Simmba is likely to continue its box-office dominance and enter Rs 100 cr club.

This would make Ranveer Singh starrer 13th film to earn over Rs 100 crore this year - a record for Bollywood. The other films to breach the mark have been: Padmaavat, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Raid, Baaghi 2, Raazi, Race 3, Sanju, Gold, Stree, Badhaai Ho, Thugs of Hindostan and 2.0.

In what has been a fine year for Hindi films, Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sanju has emerged as the highest grosser with lifetime collection of over Rs 300 crore.

"#Sanju is the HIGHEST GROSSING *Hindi film* of 2018, followed by #Padmaavat... Although ₹ 100 cr Club is no longer the yardstick to gauge the success of a film, as many as 13 *Hindi films* breached ₹ 100 cr mark in 2018, which is a new record... India biz," Adarsh tweeted.
