Sikkim University Recruitment 2019: Sikkim University has sought applications from eligible candidates for the post of Junior Research Fellow and Project Assistant, asking them to apply to the post through a prescribed format and appear for walk-in-interview on April 29, 2019. According to the official notification, "Eligible  candidates  are  invited  for  walk-in  interview  for  the  following  posts in  project  titled, “Conservation, Promotion and Intensification of local crop landraces or germplasm for livelihoods of organic  farmers  in  Sikkim,”  funded  by  National  Mission  on  Himalayan  Studies,  Ministry  of Environment and Forestry, Government of India, being implemented by Sikkim University with the partner organization Himali Vikas Sansthan, West Sikkim."

The Sikkim University vacancy details (Notification No-SU/HORT/F-1/06-5/2018/Vol-II): Junior Research Fellow – 01 Post, and Project Assistant- 02 Posts. Eligible candidates can appear for walk-in-interview on April 29, 2019 at 11 AM in the Department of Horticulture, 6th Mile Tadong, Sikkim University, Gangtok along with their documents.

Educational Qualification: Candidates applying for Junior Research Fellow should hold First class Master Degree in Horticulture/Life science with ASRB-NET/ CSIR- NET. Candidates applying for Project Assistant should be Graduate in with basic knowledge of Sikkim Himalayas.

Notably, initial assignment  is  for  a  period  of six months, but it can be extended on the basis of performance till the termination of project.

Sikkim University is a central university established under an Act of Parliament of India in 2006. Located in Gangtok, the varsity campus is expected to be built at Yangang in South Sikkim district, about 56 kilometers (35 mi) from Gangtok. The university provides UG, PG and Doctoral courses, and has fourteen affiliated colleges.

The university offers educational courses through its various departments viz. Dept. of Social System and Anthropology, Dept. of Peace and Conflict Studies and Management, Dept. of International Relations/ Politics and Department of Microbiology. Sikkim University also offers traditional courses in humanities, physical and life sciences and forestry along with non-traditional courses including subjects like ethnic history, mountain studies, border studies and hill music and culture.
