Sensex today: Indian indices today kept up the momentum, with the BSE Sensex gaining 139.42 points or 0.42% to end at 33,136.18, even as strong global cues and value buying helped infuse positive sentiments in the afternoon trade session today. Healthy buying was witnessed in banking and capital goods stocks. Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finance, NTPC, BPCL and UltraTech Cement were the market drivers today. Tata Steel, Bosch Limited, Adani Ports, ZEEl, and Aurobindo Pharma, the constituents of Nifty50, shed over 1 per cent. Nifty FMCG and Financial Services were doing well.
 
The barometer 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) opened higher at 33090.82 points today. NSE's benchmark Nifty too  gained 0.31 per cent to close at 10,155.25 points. The NSE index was trading above the 200-day simple moving average of 10,169.29 in the morning session.
 

There have been a lot of negative factors too in the works such as possible Fed rate hike, political instability in domestic market and rupee depreciation.  Nifty Finance index settled 0.66 percent up after rising over 1.3 percent during the day, while Nifty PSU bank index rose as much as 2.2 per cent. Housing Development Finance Corp rose 1.6 percent, while State Bank of India gained 1.8 percent.
